Just like last year, a relatively large group of employees (33 percent) wants to start looking for a new job or start working for themselves. Shown by a Panelwizard study commissioned by online pension provider BeFrank.

These figures correspond with those of last year. More than 60 percent of the people who want to change their job do want to stay on a payroll. “Due to the emergence of all kinds of flex workers – especially freelancers – the labor market is very much on the move. The Cabinet wants to reduce the gap between flex workers and people with a permanent contract, but for the time being, flex workers now often have a poor pension prospect”, says Jan Hein Rhebergen, Commercial Director of BeFrank.

Pension
“It is important not only to reflect on your income now, but also on your income for later. If you switch from working as an employee to starting to work for yourself, it is wise to look at your built-up pension. And how you can strengthen its future”, says Rhebergen.

Stay
Despite the will to change, the vast majority of employees wants to keep working for the same boss in 2018 (58 percent). That group does not intend to look for another job this year or wants to start their own company. At the end of 2016, a smaller percentage of 55 percent in 2017 thought that the same company would continue to work.

Facts from the research:
• More than 21 percent of the people who change jobs will switch to another branch.
• Especially young people and adults up to 40 years say they are going to change jobs.
• Mostly people in the South of the Netherlands say they want to change jobs.

Commissioned by BeFrank, Panelwizard conducted research in December 2017 among more than 1,000 Dutch workers aged 18 and older. The same study took place in December 2016, also among more than 1,000 employed Dutch people.
